Card Shark Terms of Use
Card Shark is made by Card Shark LLC, a Hawaii limited liability company ("we", "us"). These terms cover the Card Shark app and getcardshark.app. By using either, you agree to them. Questions: [email protected].
The short version
- Card Shark helps you keep track of your cards. It isn't financial advice, and it isn't a bank or your card's issuer.
- Card details can be out of date or wrong. We take them from the banks' public pages and check them often, but banks change terms without telling us. Your card's own terms always win.
- Will, the chat, is an AI and can get things wrong. Check his answers on the card's page or with your bank.
- Check with your bank before you count on a number, especially before something that costs money or can't be undone, like moving points or paying a fee.
- The decisions are yours. We aren't responsible for losses from relying on Card Shark, as far as the law allows.
What Card Shark is, and isn't
Card Shark is a tracker. It shows the credits, perks, bonus categories, fees and goals on the cards you add, estimates what they're worth, and reminds you before things expire. It doesn't give financial, investment, tax, credit or legal advice, and nothing in the app, on this website or from Will is a recommendation to open, keep, close or spend on any card. Think of it as a helpful notebook, not an advisor.
Card details
The credits, earn rates, fees, categories, lounges, transfer partners, travel cover, welcome offers and card news in Card Shark come from the banks' public pages, their guides to benefits, and well-known points sites. We check them regularly, but they can be incomplete, out of date or simply wrong, and they may not match your account: banks change terms, run offers that vary by person, and set different terms for different versions of a card. Values in cents per point, cash back estimates and "which card" picks are our estimates, not promises of what you'll earn.
Your cardmember agreement and your bank's current terms are what count. If Card Shark and your bank disagree, your bank is right. If you spot a mistake, tap Something wrong? Tell us on the card's page and we'll fix it for everyone.
Ask Will
Will's answers are written by an AI model from a summary of your cards and Card Shark's card details. They can be wrong, leave things out, or misread your question, even when they sound sure. Don't rely on them alone for anything that matters; check the card's page or your bank first. Will never makes changes on his own: anything he offers to log or set waits for you to confirm it.
Reminders and linked accounts
Reminders are a convenience. Phones, settings, email filters and outages can delay or block them, so don't count on them as the only way to catch a deadline or an annual fee. If you link a card account, the purchases, credits and rewards Card Shark finds come from your bank through our provider and can be late, incomplete or matched to the wrong category. Your statement is the record.
Your choices
You decide how to use your cards: what to spend, when to pay, which cards to open or close, whether to move points or book travel, and whether a fee is worth it. Card Shark is meant to help you save money, never to get you to spend more. Rewards are rarely worth paying interest for.
Using Card Shark fairly
Please don't misuse the app or website: no trying to break in, overload our servers, scrape them, get around limits (like Will's monthly questions), or use Will for things that have nothing to do with your cards. We may limit or close access for anyone who does.
Not affiliated with any bank
Card Shark isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any card issuer, card network, airline, hotel or points program. Card and program names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify them.
Paid features
If Card Shark offers paid features, they're bought through the App Store or Google Play and follow that store's billing and refund rules. We'll say what you get and what it costs before you buy.
No guarantees
Card Shark is provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we make no promises that it will be accurate, complete, up to date, uninterrupted or free of errors, and we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
Limits on our responsibility
As far as the law allows, Card Shark LLC isn't liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss that comes from relying on Card Shark's card details, estimates, reminders or Will's answers. That includes credits that went unused, annual fees, interest or late fees, welcome offers you didn't get, points moved or lost, and declined applications. If we are found liable for anything, our total liability is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50. Some places don't allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Changes
We may update these terms as Card Shark changes. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top, and for changes that matter we'll tell you in the app. Using Card Shark after a change means you accept the new terms.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii, without regard to its conflict of law rules, except where the law where you live says otherwise.
